I'm wearing a necklace today with the phrase "What we see depends on what we look for," on it. A deeply ironic phrase considering that Instagram has been a bit buggy with what it's showing me lately. I know it's not good to be trapped inside of one's bubble, but I can't be the only person who's grown to expect a never ending stream of perfectly curated content that never challenges what I believe about the world. I'd be stunned if any of us is being challenged by what we see online these days. Of course even in real life true challenge is rare. Either you see something that affirms what you already saw, or you see something that shatters your faith in humanity. There's no in between.

With all that's happened in America in the past ten years, I'm surprised no one has come up with another deranged explanation for why the world is behaving the way that it is. I can't be the only person with a mindset that is so rational to them that it's the only way they can process the world, and I refuse to believe that they wouldn't attract a large following if discovered. Infinitelism works for me, but that's because I created it for me and me alone. Having seen what happened to Christianity, I don't think I want it to go big, even though I hate being the only person who believes what I do. But there has to be someone else, right? Someone who has a crazy theory about the world that they only talk about in places no one's likely to see them? Hell, there can't just be one other person. I think that, deep down, everyone has a deranged explanation for everyone else's behavior. It's the only way I've survived the past four years, after all.

I've read about the pentagon's destruction of religious freedom, but until now I hadn't heard that one of the faiths they'd banned was Mormonism. Sure, turn an entire state of people against you when you're already almost certain to lose the midterms even if you suppress the shit out of every blue state. I get the feeling Pete Hegseth isn't going to be employed for much longer.

January 25, 2026, the day the American Political establishment fell to pieces. Oh, they’ll say it didn’t fall apart until April or May, but today is the day it ends. Today’s the day that Trump, against every bit of reason and logic, decided to dump the NRA to make his enemy seem like a monster for carrying a gun for self-defense. It may look like the Republicans are siding with Trump, but the NRA has already condemned Trump for this, and others have followed in their wake. I’m no expert on this, but between this and Trumps terrible handling of the Epstein files I’m willing to bet that even now there are talks behind the scenes about courting some of the Democratic political establishment, particularly those in states harangued by ICE. Some will bite. I don’t know who or how hard, but some of them will, and when they do the Democrats will be horrified. They don’t want fascism, but they don’t like the NRA, and the memory of Sandy Hook weighs deeply on everyone’s minds. I’d go as far as to say that this is the moment that throws the outcome of every following election into question. Who will side with who? What will be said? What points will be made? I have no idea what will come of this, but I know in my bones it’ll be something unforeseen and terrible.
